GELISI Presents Custom Carpet Craftsmanship at the China International Flooring Materials Exhibition

GELISI joined the China International Flooring Materials Exhibition to present custom carpet craftsmanship, material development and project-oriented solutions for hospitality, residential, cultural and commercial interiors.

A presentation built around the project

The exhibition gave designers, specifiers and project teams a chance to review how a bespoke carpet is developed, rather than to browse a fixed catalogue. GELISI, Foshan Gaoming Grlisi Carpet Manufacturing Co., Ltd., has produced high-end handmade tufted carpets since 2002. Conversations at the show focused on how pattern, colour, fibre and construction are adjusted to a particular room.

Samples on display covered the decisions that usually happen before production: yarn character, pile texture, pattern scale and the difference between a motif on paper and the same motif across a large floor. Visitors could compare wool, silk, nylon and bamboo-fibre references beside finished hand-tufted surfaces.

Craft that can be specified

Hand tufting remains central to the work. After a design and a material direction are approved, the carpet is built on the frame, then carved, sheared and inspected. That sequence matters in project work, where a lobby, a suite or a cultural hall may need a one-off size, an irregular shape, or a pattern aligned with architecture and furniture.

The company produces custom-sized carpets with an annual capacity of 100,000 square metres. Properties developed for project use include moisture resistance, moth resistance, anti-static performance and flame retardancy, specified according to the setting.

Interiors the work is made for

GELISI carpets are used in ultra-luxury hotels, villas, clubs, cruise casinos, cultural and pilgrimage spaces, and commercial interiors. Export markets include Europe, the Americas, Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan. The exhibition was a way to show that range through material and making, not through a single collection theme.

From the stand back to the workshop

A showroom conversation is only useful if it can continue into sampling. Project teams who reviewed references at the exhibition can take drawings, colour boards and room plans to the Foshan workshop for pattern development, strike-offs and production. Size, shape, colour and pattern remain open until the sample is agreed.

For GELISI, the exhibition was a working presentation of how custom carpet is planned and made: design first, then fibre, hand tufting, finishing and delivery for the space it will occupy.
